NBA Trade Rumors: 10 Reasons Chauncey Billups Is Headed To Miami Heat

Chauncey Billups will soon take his respective talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat. Billups will give the Heat the type of veteran leadership that the Heat need to reach their maximum potential. Sports Report 360 presents 10 reasons why Chauncey Billups is headed to the Miami Heat:

1. Multiple Championships- Chauncey Billups wants a chance to win multiple championships. Playing alongside the likes of Bosh, James and Wade gives Billups a chance to win multiple championships and cap his career off in style.

2. Space for 3 point shots- Billups loves to shoot three point shots. With James and Wade running the floor, Billups will get many open three point shots that he can easily knock down.

3. Coach Spoelsta’s Defense Emphasis- Billups’ career took off in Detroit when the emphasis of the team was on defense. He does not like the fact that the Nuggets do not play great defense. Going to the Heat will put Billups back on a team that emphasizes defense and winning basketball.

4. Stick It To Joe Dumars- Billups did not like the way Dumars treated him during his last two seasons in Detroit. Playing on the Heat will give him an opportunity to try and beat the Pistons. Billups wants to help get Dumars fired in Detroit.

5. Make LeBron Better- Billups developed great respect for LeBron during their prior battles to win Eastern Conference Championships. Billups wants to make Lebron a more complete player. Billups wants to play with LeBron to help him further develop his three point shot, free throw shooting, post game and overall game.

6. Lengthens Career- Billups is currently in his 13th season in the NBA. It is tough to play with energy each night. If Billups joins the Heat he will not need to be at his best each night. Billups will be able to squeeze out an extra season or two if he joins the Heat.

7. Groom Mario Chalmers- Billups has done an excellent job of grooming Ty Lawson to take over the starting point guard spot in Denver. Billups understand his responsibility to give back to the game and would like to help the Heat in the long term by helping develop Mario Chalmers into an elite point guard in the NBA.

8. Family- Billups’ family would enjoy moving down to South Beach for the sun. Billups would love to be a part of the Heat organization for the family atmosphere.

9. Hang With The Stars- In Detroit and Denver, Billups has not had an opportunity to hang with the stars. If Billups comes to the Heat, not only can he hang with the stars, but he will gain more endorsement opportunities.

10. Pat Riley Seal Of Approval- Billups wants a front office position with an NBA organization when he retires. If he takes care of business with the Heat, Pat Riley will make sure he gets a good front office position with some team in the NBA.
