Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft after leading Auburn to a national championship.

“This decision was difficult for me and my family,” Newton said, adding that he made it after talking to coach Gene Chizik and offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.

“It’s been a blessing for me to be a part of something so great,” he said. “Any time you win games it’s a big deal, but for this school to win a BCS national championship, what a way to make people happy. Auburn is a special place that I can call home.”

Newton, a run first quarterback, will have to make some adjustments in the NFL in order to be successful. The league has faster defensive backs, smaller passing windows and more complex defensive schemes. Is he up to the challenge? I don’t think so!

The Heisman Trophy winner is the third best quarterback in the draft and ranked 27th in many pre-draft boards.

Where do you see Cam Newton going?

I definitely think Cam will go in the first round because if Tim Tebow can go so can Newton. However, character will be a major issue with him. Plus, he’ll come with more baggage than Paris Hilton.
