Carpenter, Cards blank Reds

The rivalry continues between the Cardinals and the Reds, as the Cardinals were able to take the opener of the series 1-0. Chris Carpenter pitched eight scoreless innings to beat Johnny Cueto. Mark Hamilton drove in the lone run as the shutout was the perfect celebration for fans at Busch Stadium. The Reds are now 43-43 on the season as the Cardinals record went to 46-40 with the win.
