MMA Rumors: Should BJ Penn Fight Jon Fitch Again Before Retiring?

Obviously, BJ Penn was extremely emotional about his unanimous decision loss to Nick Diaz at UFC 137, but there really is no good reason for him to retire without at least trying to get a win against one last respectable opponent.  His long term future does not look good in the UFC, as he does not have a good chance of ever recapturing a title in the lightweight or welterweight division against Frankie Edgar or Georges St. Pierre.

It is clear that Dana White gave ”The Prodigy” some extra cash to take the fight with Nick Diaz because UFC 137 is the last time he will ever be a main event fighter on a fight card. Unfortunately, with the loss he moves into the dreaded doghouse for fighters, because there may not be great demand from the fans to see him fight anymore.

At UFC 127, BJ Penn fought Jon Fitch to a very controversial three round draw.  Fitch is one of the most respected fighters in the world of mixed martial arts. ”The Prodigy” should ask Dana White for a rematch and request that the rematch be scheduled for 5 rounds.  If he won the rematch, he could then retire  from the sport with the respect that he deserves, instead of just looking like a sore loser.

I think bj can still compete for the title at lightweight but he needs to change up his training camp and work with some different people, the first fight with edgar could have been scored either way, but bjs training and motivation have always come into question, he can right the ship!!
