NCAA Basketball:Georgetown Coach John Thompson III On Heat Seat
Even though the Hoyas won 74-65 over Rutgers on Saturday January, 15,...
Mike Shanahan has not exactly thrived in player relations, in his two seasons with the Redskins and it appears that now he is finished and done with Chris Cooley. Although, Chris Cooley’s biggest contribution has been exchanging trash talk with Tony Romo this season, when he is released, there will certainly be plenty of teams who could use his help, but one team that stands out the most is the New York Giants.
The New York Giants still have not found way to replace the production of Kevin Boss this season, since he left the team to play for the Oakland Raiders. It would help Eli Manning quite a bit to have a big bodied target like Cooley to get the ball to, particularly in the red zone. A lot of Manning’s inconsistent play this season has to be attributed to not feeling comfortable as he was in the past throwing the ball down the middle of the field because of the inexperience of younger tight ends, Jake Ballard and Travis Beckum. The team should consider adding the veteran Chris Cooley to the team, when he gets healthy.
It is nothing like getting pay back in the NFL, neither Albert Haynesworth or Donovan McNabb were able to get pay back on Mike Shanahan for his poor treatment of them during their time with the Redskins because they were traded to teams in different divisions. If Chris Cooley signs with the New York Giants, it will give him the chance to stick it to Mike Shanahan and the thought of that has to be very appealing at this point in time. When healthy, Cooley has demonstrated that he can be one of the better tight ends in the game, so hopefully, he will do some soul searching after he is released and sign with the G-Men so he can get at least two opportunities a season to try and rub in the face of Mike Shanahan.
