Rick Neuheisel

Nice guys finish last. Optimism does not work, which is why even though Rick Neuheisel’s team reached the championship in the Pac 12 this season, he was fired. Here is a small list of the top 3 replacements to take over the head coaching position for the UCLA football program going forward.

Jon Gruden
Gruden has certainly been out of football long enough now and is talented enough that he would not mind the head to head competition with Lane Kiffin. He is a strong leader who should be able to build some consistency in the program. For the right price, he would be willing to head out West once again.

Chris Petersen
Petersen has been constantly wooed and many teams have tried to pluck him away from Boise State. The money may be to much to turn down this time. He is a defensive and offensive guru, who would certainly help the program start a return to glory.

Kevin Sumlin
Sumlin is a hot name right now because the Houston Cougars appear to be headed to an undefeated season. He is known for putting explosive offenses on the field and does a great job of recruiting. It might be the perfect time for him to test himself to see if he can compete on a bigger stage each season. He certainly deserves an opportunity.
