Angels Sign CJ Wilson and Albert Pujols

Just when the you thought, the Miami Marlins were going to be the organization making the biggest splash this off-season by signing Mark Buerhle and Jose Reyes, things took a dramatic shift recently when owner Arte Moreno stepped up and make two huge moves by adding Albert Pujols and CJ Wilson to the Los Angeles Angels.

Wilson signed a 5-year deal for $77.5 million dollars with the team and will be added to the pitching rotation that already features Dan Haren and Jered Weaver, which could now give the team arguably the best staff in the MLB. He spent 7 seasons with the Texas Rangers had a career record of 43-35, with a solid era of 3.60

Pujols signed a 10-year deal with the organization that will pay him in the $250 to $260 million dollar range, which will give him the second largest contract in MLB history only behind Alex Rodriguez. He won two world series championships and spent 11 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals producing incredible lifetime numbers of 445/1329/.328. The 9-time all-star is expected to dramatically impact the team and make a push for the all time home run record of 762, which is currently held by Barry Bonds.

Somewhere right now Texas Rangers’ manager Ron Washington is crying as the Angels will be the prohibited favorite to not only win the American League West next season, but they now have the pitching and hitting combination that will give them a legitimate shot to contend for a World Series.  There is nobody who had a better week than Arte Moreno!
