Austin Rivers is mature beyond his 19 year old age which is evident by the confidence he carries on the basketball court. Rivers is averaging 14.2 points per game and developing more into an all-around player every game.

Commenting on his progress the talented guard recently stated, “Coach K got on me, and (the assistant coaches) helped me, and I’m kind of already used to playing college basketball now. It just kind of comes easy for me now – not as in, I score easy and all that. I think I’m just comfortable. And I’m comfortable with my teammates, they look for me, and I’m having fun. I just play my game, and I play hard, and everything else works out for me.”

Upon arriving at Duke, Rivers was simply a cocky one-dimensional player who could flat-out score, but was not great on the defensive end of the floor. The reason he chose Duke, was that he wanted Coach K to develop him into an all-around player which is becoming more evident by his improvement as a defender this season. He is playing with a lot of poise and improving each game.

If he can stay focused and peak at the right moment, there is a possibility, the young freshman can deliver a NCAA championship back to Durham, so that the Cameron Crazies will get a chance to party until next college basketball season.
