Carmelo Anthony is struggling this season by shooting a career worst 40% percent from the field, which has directly led the New York Knicks to arguably becoming the most underachieving team in sports. The team currently has a 6-10 record, which has increased the urgency for fans to see Mike D’Antoni get fired.  Melo is currently being booed every time he touches the ball and looks like he just may not be able to handle the pressure of performing at Madison Square Garden.

Melo is not playing great defense and must make major adjustments, if this team is going to get things turned around this season. To deflect some of the criticism, Melo is now considering shooting less and passing more, although he is currently leading the team in assists at 4.2 per game.

Commenting on possibly getting Amar’e Stoudemire the ball more, Melo recently stated, ““We as a team need to do a better job getting Amar’e the ball. I have the ball in my hands. Maybe it’s on me. Maybe I have to give him the ball a little more, help him out with that. We’ll talk probably (today) and try to figure it out together. If I’m doing too much, I want him to tell me.’’

It has been quite frustrating to watch Carmelo Anthony not play great defense or rebound better this season. The one thing that is for sure is that he is not getting it done and appears on the verge of letting fans of the team down. Although he is a great scorer, he just may not be ready to fully handle the pressure of being a superstar on the New York stage.
