After losing to USC 50-0 last season, UCLA decided to take drastic measures and hired Sal Alosi as the new strength and conditioning coach. If you don’t know who Sal Alosi is, let us remind you. Alosi was the former strength and conditioning coach for the New York Jets who purposely tripped a Dolphins player on the sideline.

The hiring certainly changes the mentality of the program into doing whatever is necessary to get a victory.  After all, what could possibly be better than tripping players on the sideline at the professional level; teaching younger players how to do it at the college level.

It puts a whole new spin on preparing athletes to get ready for the next level.  On a lighter note, next to Mick Marotti at Ohio State and Jim Radcliffe at Oregon, UCLA has made an excellent hire as Alosi is certainly one of the most knowledgeable trainers in the country.  I certainly can’t wait to see the USC-UCLA football game next season.
