As the all-time leading scorer in NBA history, it seems only natural that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar should have a statue out in front of Staples Center so that fans will appreciate his basketball contribution to the world forever. He generally has been unfairly or fairly viewed as a highly abrasive athlete, but things have changed as of late.
In fact, he is becoming more visible, doing more outreach efforts than ever, and recently accepted the position as a global cultural ambassador.
Commenting on the work he will doing primarily for Hillary Clinton, Jabbar recently stated, “I am excited and honored to serve my country as a Cultural Ambassador for the U.S. Department of State. I look forward to meeting with young people all over the world and discussing ways in which we can strengthen our understanding of one another through education, through sports, and through greater cultural tolerance.”
Hopefully, these type of efforts will be enough to earn Kareem Abdul-Jabbar that much deserved statue in front of Staples Center.
