Tyrann Mathieu: ‘Honey Badger’ playing with Ronnie Lott intensity

It it tough trying to play with the intensity of Steve Atwater, Sammy Knight, Ronnie Lott, or Troy Polamalu each day in practice or in games, but Tyrann Mathieu has a goal to pass all of them at some point in time.

After coming up fairly small during two big contests against Alabama last season, he is on a personal mission for redemption, which can only be quenched by bringing the national championship crystal football trophy back to Baton Rouge next season.

Commenting on the plan to be the best defensive player in college football next season, Honey Badger recently stated, “If I’m at nickel, I just want to roam the field and make some plays. The game was kind of slow for me my freshman year and even slower my sophomore year. But, now, I anticipate plays even better, know the down and distances and know what to expect. I’m just taking all that in, all the experiences I’ve had, and getting in extra film study and getting even more familiar with the game mentally.”

It will be interesting to see if Honey Badger can remain healthy, play with Ronnie Lott intensity, and if he can maintain the incredible pace of causing 14 turnovers in just 25 games. I know this one thing for sure, it is not wise to bet against #7.
