NCAA Basketball:Georgetown Coach John Thompson III On Heat Seat
Even though the Hoyas won 74-65 over Rutgers on Saturday January, 15,...
The recent hiring of Mike Dunlap by Michael Jordan as the Charlotte Bobcats new head coach over Patrick Ewing or another coach was a surprise to many around the basketball world; however, it was a brilliant hire for the organization going forward.
Dunlap is known to be an avid runner, and he will implement those lessons of perseverance into his coaching style, which will be very beneficial to the team.
On offense the team will run more next season very reminiscent of the Phoenix Suns or the New York Knicks when Mike D’Antoni was the coach. This style will not only be exciting for fans of the team, but it should give them the opportunity to steadily improve over the next couple of seasons.
On defense the team will be in much better physical condition, which means they should compete and improve. While improved offense and defense will not guarantee the team makes the playoffs, the organization will take incremental steps forward and I believe this is one time, you have to give MJ credit for doing his due diligence and hiring a terrific coach.
It will be interesting to see how the new Mike and Mike work together going forward.
